The case for Nano - a crypto YOLO with more upside than GME, NOK and AMC combined

EDIT: NANO ATMS COMING, $100bln+ MONTHLY FX PARTY COMING IN, + PRIVATE EQUITY
Hear me out here. I think Nano is going to make us all rich. It's what's gonna get us all a Tesla, plus a second Tesla to launch to Jupiter and beyond 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀 Altstreetbets, the crypto buddy of this holy sub, is already dtf with this.
# 1. What the f is Nano and why are you shilling this
To keep it short for us retards: Nano is a cryptocurrency that boasts zero fees, instant transfers (sub-second), is green, and increases the size of your pp. It has a good claim to being better than Bitcoin but has 1/1500th its market cap. Daddy Elon tweeted about whatever has least error & latency will win - that shit is literally what Nano is.
# 2. We're in this together
Apes together strong, right? Nano has a huge community, so big that most of the crypto subreddits aren't sure how to deal with the constant Nano enthusiasm. Not kidding, the banned Nanites could fill a subreddit by themselves. They're tireless on Reddit, Twitter, or anywhere else you dare utter that you pay fees for any crypto or money transfer. These are people that held through a 90% loss, then didn't sell when Nano suddenly pumped 400%. Diamond hands doesn't even begin to describe it. When the price pumped even slightly, they all jumped on it to pronounce Nano the best thing since before sliced bread, and went to town on Twitter and Reddit.
My point? AMPLIFICATION. As soon as Nano starts getting some price action, the Nanites will jump on it, will keep going, and they ARE. NOT. LEAVING.
# 3. Rumours of Nano being suppressed
The rumour that Nano is being suppressed by crypto miners and Bitcoin maximalists has been around for a very long time, and it makes sense. Nano works ridiculously well, and is there to eat the cake of all the miners who are raking in millions a day. BTC maxis and miners hate the word Nano, and have a strong incentive to literally pay to have it disappear from the face of the earth. Bitcoin influencers on Twitter have muted the word Nano because they know their thesis is fucked when it gets mentioned.
My point? F EM. Bitcoin is king, Bitcoin was literally birthed by the virgin Mary, and everything else is a 💩coin that doesn't deserve to pump. F THAT. And F maximalism in general. We're here to make money, and Bitcoin doesn't offer enough gains.
# 4. Solid pumpamentals
Aside from the strong community and the ridiculously good tech, it also has the other pumpamentals needed. It just got listed on AnchorUSD meaning it's now easy to buy in the US, and was recently added to KuCoin for 10x leveraged trading. Volume actively on the books on exchanges is low, right now it would take only $600k to pump it 30% on Binance pair. What else does it have as pumpamentals? The Nano team recently applied for the Coinbase listing and Coinbase just so happens to have removed pruning as a prerequisite from their website. Coincidence? Maybe, but when asked earlier Nano's lack of pruning was mentioned as the obstacle for a Coinbase listing. COINS GETTING LISTED ON COINBASE ALWAYS PUMP BECAUSE COINBASE HAPPENS TO BUY A BUNCH OF WHATEVER THEY'RE LISTING BEFORE THEY LIST IT.
Plus, it seems like we would have Raoul Pal from Real Vision Group in our camp. When he recently asked for altcoin recommendations the Nano Twitter shills did their job as usual, he replied to them it was a good thread. Coincidentally there was a huge (for Nano) buy order right around that time.
More pumpamentals? The Nano tagline writes itself. It transfers in the blink of an eye, it has no fees, it's greener than the big dildo that's currently fucking Melvin Capital, has the best wallet in all of crypto and can be demonstrated to anyone within a minute. It's the ultimate antidote to the high fees narrative of Bitcorn, and shames institutions for holding a CO2 emitting coal guzzler on their balance sheets through Bitcorn. As soon as the price starts going up, this thing sells itself. Hell, institutions can even buy it since recently through Bitcoin Suisse, where Nano was added because of demand. And keep in mind - this has a market cap of $450 million. Throwing $100 at Nano does more than throwing $1000 at AMC.
My point? Well, exactly the title. SOLID PUMPAMENTALS. Seriously this thing is so ready to be hyped.
# 5. The plan
Am I saying to leverage this x100 to pump it into the skies? Maybe, but also no. I am saying that whatever you do, Nano is going to pump anyway because if us retards can figure it out, others can too. This shit can be 10x leveraged on KuCoin without even needing to do KYC. I'm doing that right now, and am expecting you all to do the same. At a 3000% gain ($100) we can call this a success, if it gets to $250 I'll buy the top comment on this post a Tesla because fuck it, I'll be rich.
My credentials? My post karma when I posted this on another sub was 420. Due to the mass upvotes my total karma has now increased to 1337. I'm counting on this post shooting me to 42069. Need I say more?
Positivity, not disagreeing with anything I've said and more examples of solid pumpamentals (also places to leverage it more than 10x) are welcome in the comments ⬇
PROOF OR BAN https://i.imgur.com/9eHQw6K.png
Edit: how to buy this shit? Binance (5x leverage), Kucoin (10x leverage, can send crypto from other exchanges there and 10x leverage without KYC), or Kraken. If you got other crypto already, there's changenow. For Europe, Bitvavo is best.
Edit: Seems this shit is working, I'm currently up 80%. Don't worry, I'm not selling until this shit hits at least $250 so I can buy the top comment his Tesla.

Why Visa and Mastercard will likely Use USDC-Stellar and the Bullish Case on XLM

I will break this down into two parts: comparing why Visa will use Stellar versus ETH, Algo, and Solana since USDC is also launched on them, and why Mastercard will likely use Stellar’s USDC and XLM for crypto payments.
Key take-aways for the ones who don’t want to read the whole details: * Stellar aims to connect world’s financial systems with their main focus on cross-border payments, moving money around, currency conversion, and remittances. (Ethereum, Solana, and Algorand do not do that) * Stellar is a big partner of Wirex which is a principal member of Visa and a principal member of MASTERCARD and has already issued 26 stablecoins on Stellar that can be used seamlessly in day-to-day life – online, at ATMs and in shops, restaurants and supermarkets – thanks to the Wirex Visa card. * Another principal member of Visa is Coinbase which provides a Coinbase card of 4% XLM cashback * Coinbase and Circle partnered together and now known as Centre which issues USDC, and USDC just got launched on Stellar this February for main purposes mentioned by them directly on their blog: cross-border payments, moving money around, merchant and business payments, and currency conversion. * Velo and Lightnet use Stellar Blockchain for processing payments, remittances, and cross-border payments which have also obtained partnership with Visa for developing payment solution in Asia * Mastercard is looking for cryptocurrency focused on compliance, regulated, and is meant to be used

Why Visa will Use Stellar over Ethereum, Solana, and Algorand

I will keep it brief.

Why USDC on Stellar and XLM have the Biggest Chance to be Picked by Mastercard

From Mastercard itself:
We will be very thoughtful about which assets we support based on our principles for digital currencies, which focus on consumer protections and compliance.
What are we looking for? Four key items. First and foremost we need consumer protections, including privacy and security of consumers’ information — the same level of security people have come to expect in their credit cards. Next, strict compliance protocols will be needed, including Know Your Customer, a requirement meant to snuff out illegal activity and deception in payment networks. Also, these digital assets must follow local laws and regulations in the regions they are used.
Lastly, people will want to use these digital assets for payments, so that is one of our criteria too. To reach our network, crypto assets will need to offer the stability people need in a vehicle for spending, not investment.
Stablecoin is likely to be the first one to be supported here. USDC is the best candidate since it is fully-compliant and fully-backed by USD. Now, USDC on Stellar is cheap and fast and serves the purpose that Mastercard is aiming: used for payment. Every USDC transaction on Stellar will need XLM to process it thus burning XLM.
On the other hand, Mastercard will also allow merchants to accept volatile cryptos as a payment via an opt-in and that’s where XLM is gaining more bullish points: fast and cheap.
Yes, there are other cryptos that are as fast as XLM. Bitcoin and Ethereum might even be chosen though they are slow with high tx fee, they are the two most popular cryptos, so they still stand a chance. However, what makes XLM different is the network it runs on which is Stellar.
Stellar has the built-in compliance tools which banks and financial institutions are looking for.
And why Stellar over other blockchains? Wirex has this as a response:
When it came to choosing a blockchain on which to build our stablecoins, Stellar stood head and shoulders above the competition for several reasons: * As an FCA-regulated company, regulatory compliance is our priority. The Stellar protocol features an inbuilt compliance framework, automatically ensuring regulatory adherence * The majority of existing stablecoins are built on the Ethereum blockchain which processes roughly 25 transactions-per-second (tps). Stellar manages at least 1,000 tps, making it significantly faster and more scalable * Stellar and Wirex share a common goal and values – to bank the unbanked, democratise access to financial services and facilitate the integration of the burgeoning token economy

The Future

You might say that the future of finance should be DeFi, but the adoption of blockchain tech and cryptos by CeFi pave the way to legitimize the use cases of cryptocurrencies as a payment.
Furthermore, while others are busy claiming that we don’t need banks, Stellar is getting them onboarded to a decentralized ledger.
Another take on this is that few seem to realize that the collapse of the banks and fiat in general will also be the collapse of the economy. When that happens, you can’t eat Bitcoin or XLM. You won’t even have enough fiat to buy cryptos.
I think the future is not about replacing the centralized finance rather it is the co-existing of DeFi and CeFi where people have the choice which one they will use.

More about Stellar:

Trade cryptos and metals like Silver, Gold, Palladium and Platinum using Stellar DEX: - https://app.lumenswap.io/swap: It looks like Uniswap but for a fraction of a cent since it runs on Stellar and you can do the path payment magic of Stellar! For example you want to send BTC to your wallet and you have ETH, you just need to use the send+swap feature. Meaning it will go this way: ETH ➡️ XLM ➡️ BTC ➡️your wallet. - www.stellarport.io - www.stellarx.com - www.lobstr.co
Visit www.stellar.org to learn more about Stellar.
For the newcomers: There is no staking for XLM but you can gain interest thru Anchorusd, Celsius, Nexo, and Abra. Be careful of scams.

Bitcoin Newcomers FAQ - Please read!

Welcome to the /Bitcoin Sticky FAQ

You've probably been hearing a lot about Bitcoin recently and are wondering what's the big deal? Most of your questions should be answered by the resources below but if you have additional questions feel free to ask them in the comments.
It all started with the release of Satoshi Nakamoto's whitepaper however that will probably go over the head of most readers so we recommend the following articles/books/videos as a good starting point for understanding how bitcoin works and a little about its long term potential:
Some other great resources include Michael Saylor's "Bitcoin for Everybody"' course, Jameson Lopp's resource page, Gigi's resource page, and James D'Angelo's Bitcoin 101 Blackboard series. Some excellent writing on Bitcoin's value proposition and future can be found at the Satoshi Nakamoto Institute.
If you are technically or academically inclined check out developer resources and peer-reviewed research papers, course lectures from both MIT and Princeton as well as future protocol improvements and scaling resources. Some Bitcoin statistics can be found here, here and here. MicroStrategy's Bitcoin for Corporations is an excellent open source series on corporate legal and financial bitcoin integration.
You can also see the number of times Bitcoin was declared dead by the media (LOL) and what you could have earned if you didn't listen to them! XD

Key properties of Bitcoin

Where can I buy bitcoin?

Bitcoin.org and BuyBitcoinWorldwide.com are helpful sites for beginners. You can buy or sell any amount of bitcoin (even just a few dollars worth) and there are several easy methods to purchase bitcoin with cash, credit card or bank transfer. Some of the more popular resources are below, also check out the bitcoinity exchange resources for a larger list of options for purchases.
You can also purchase in cash with local ATMs. If you would like your paycheck automatically converted to bitcoin use Bitwage.
Note: Bitcoin are valued at whatever market price people are willing to pay for them in balancing act of supply vs demand. Unlike traditional markets, bitcoin markets operate 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

Securing your bitcoin

With bitcoin you can "Be your own bank" and personally secure your bitcoin OR you can use third party companies aka "Bitcoin banks" which will hold the bitcoin for you.
Note: For increased security, use Two Factor Authentication (2FA) everywhere it is offered, including email!
2FA requires a second confirmation code or a physical security key to access your account making it much harder for thieves to gain access. Google Authenticator and Authy are the two most popular 2FA services, download links are below. Make sure you create backups of your 2FA codes.
Avoid using your cell number for 2FA. Hackers have been using a technique called "SIM swapping" to impersonate users and steal bitcoin off exchanges.
Google Auth Authy OTP Auth andOTP
Android Android N/A Android
iOS iOS iOS N/A
Physical security keys (FIDO U2F) offer stronger security than Google Auth / Authy and other TOTP-based apps, because the secret code never leaves the device and it uses bi-directional authentication so it prevents phishing. If you lose the device though, you could lose access to your account, so always use 2 or more security keys with a given account so you have backups. See Yubikey or Titan to purchase security keys.
Both Coinbase and Gemini support physical security keys.

Watch out for scams

As mentioned above, Bitcoin is decentralized, which by definition means there is no official website or Twitter handle or spokesperson or CEO. However, all money attracts thieves. This combination unfortunately results in scammers running official sounding names or pretending to be an authority on YouTube or social media. Many scammers throughout the years have claimed to be the inventor of Bitcoin. Websites like bitcoin(dot)com and the r / btc subreddit are active scams. Almost all altcoins (shitcoins) are marketed heavily with big promises but are really just designed to separate you from your bitcoin. So be careful: any resource, including all linked in this document, may in the future turn evil. As they say in our community, "Don't trust, verify".

Common Bitcoin Myths

Often the same concerns arise about Bitcoin from newcomers. Questions such as:

Can I mine bitcoin?

Mining bitcoin can be a fun learning experience, but be aware that you will most likely operate at a loss. Dogecoin DOES NOT have an infinite supply. It is finite. PLEASE READ

I have seen numerous post, articles, and tweets of people claiming pull out because there is an infinite supply of this coin and the supply is determined by the demand and it will crash.
THIS IS NOT TRUE
I really wish people would do some basic google searches research on what is being invested into. I mean it IS your money.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a professional or financial advisor. This is not professional advice. I am actually retarded.

There is only a max of 5BN added to the Dogecoin cap ANUALLY

This seems to be some folks argument of pulling out or not investing. I have seen this be a continuous argument over on CryptoCurrency as well. I am a little saddened by this as this would be a subreddit that you join or lurk to get VALID and CREDIBLE information on, well, crypto currencies. Unfortunately either they know nothing of Dogecoin or are following the hysteria of the "get rich quick" buyers who have swung over there with their paper paws wondering which crypto to invest in.
The entire idea of this post is to educate a bit and hopefully clear up loose ends on what Dogecoin really is and to comfort those who came in last minute on the FOMO and are doubting it all.

Here is a tl;dr bulleted summary for those who don't want to read deep

I have got to be honest and blunt here, some people are absolutely stupid. We have the internet at our finger tips with truly infinite sources of information and people are still clueless. But this is not a post to roast anyone or call anyone out. This is literally just to clarify a few major causes of peoples uprooting from Dogecoin. Some quicker than others sadly.... Regardless, i hope some people take some light of this information. If you don't believe me then look up the information for yourself.
The folks who didn't have the stomach, funds, or patience to invest are either gone, going, or doubting it all. By all means go because there are many people willing to continue to invest in this and it has more coverage than ever before. You only lose once you sell.
It is true to that in order for this to cooperate then everyone involved needs to take initiative. If you invested then you need to hold. If you're able to then invest in the dips. It is super simple, once coins are consumed then the value is increased. It doesn't matter if coins are consumed at .027 or .27. The volume is finite and as long as available coins are consumed and demand is increasing then the value goes with it. Imagine buying a million buckets of water for less than a penny each, then someone comes along and offers 7 cents for each bucket but they don't want the water. The bucket holder sells the bucket and the buyer now has a pools worth of water they need to deal with. That might be a bad analogy but hopefully it crosses well.
I have stated a million and 1 times on here that I am in for the long haul and ready to sit on this all. I do believe in Dogecoin and I do believe the value will increase. Dogecoin now has more attention than it ever has. Crypto currency has more attention than it ever has. It will grow, but people really need to stop spreading false information. Use google for it's intended purpose for once, it does do more than reverse image search porn you know.... just saying.
I hope this has brought some sense, stable thinking, and most importantly informed some folks of what is really at hand. I wouldn't normally say this but if you can upvote and spread this, copy and paste this exact post IDC just try to spread factual information.
The demand is there, the coins are there, the value will increase. It will come with time.

Continue to hold, buy in the dips, don't give up, and hold.

The ultimate bull - NANO - fundamentals + community + NANO ATMS!!! + $100bln FX + private equity + listings + daddy Elon === mad gains

Hello degens. I'm here to tell you about the crypto that's going to make us all rich, is going to screw over the big traders, and is going to allow us to use crypto to buy genetically engineered Doges to drive our Teslas on Mars. If you're only interested in the part where I talk about why Nano is currently on Cape Canaveral (🚀🚀🚀) counting down for take-off to Mars, skip to the bottom.
# 1. Nano? What is it? Why do I care?
You're on a crypto subreddit and don't know this? Nano is a cryptocurrency that boasts zero fees, instant transfers (sub-second), is green, and increases the size of your pp (or tiddies, for girls). It has a good claim to being better than Bitcoin but has 1/1500th its market cap. Daddy Elon tweeted about whatever has least error & latency will win - that shit is literally what Nano is.
# 2. Lol, you shill
I'm not a Nano shill, I just like to make money and Nano is money. However, Nano does have a lot of shills, enthusiasts, whatever you want to call them. Look at Litecoin. Look at BSV, look at BCH, etc. These coins have a market cap 8-18x higher than Nano does, but I'm pretty sure we all hear a lot more about Nano than about those 3 combined. I'm not kidding, cc needed to implement special rules just to deal with the amount of Nano comments and posts, /altstreetbets got overrun by Nano and had to reorganise their sub, on Twitter Nano is top 3 most talked about crypto. Every time I've posted about Nano, I've had a ton of comments from Nano lovers offering advice and help on what Nano is all about. These aren't bots, these are just ridiculous amounts of Nano-loving people.
Why do we care? Because if we try to pump another coin, we need to build from the ground up. When Nano isn't pumping, people talk about it way too much. When it pumps.. dear Daddy Elon.
# 3. Solid pumpamentals
We all love DOGE here. And at the risk of insulting his holy Dogeness (forever blessed may be his Dogeness), DOGE isn't actually the best in terms of being a crypto. The wallets are a bit clunky, transfers are sort of slow and cost fees, but the meme-ing power makes up for it. Nano can pump and pump and pump, and rather than it seeming like a joke people will think "well **** me, this shit actually works". Try it out once, and you're sold. It feels like the future of money. It feels like the money we would use on Mars. When you see money being used in science fiction movies, do you see them paying fees? Do you see them waiting for transactions? Fuck no. It's a click, and boom. Money transferred, feelessly. That is Nano. Try Natrium out and tell me that's not exactly what money should work like.
More pumpamentals? Here goes, from least to most pumpamental.
  1. Garry Tan, early investor in Coinbase, has Nano.
  2. Raoul Pal since recently probably has Nano. Shortly prior to his post, there was a spike in price.
  3. This guy called Davinci Jeremie who bought Bitcoin at like, $1, is bullish as **** on Nano since recently.
  4. As I said before, Daddy Elon tweeted about least error & latency. Again, try out Natrium and tell me that his Muskness isn't talking about Nano without knowing it. Leave it to the Nanites to get this in front of Elon.
MOST IMPORTANT SHORT-TERM PUMPAMENTAL
I have discovered that Nano ATMs will be placed in the UK soon and that there is a huge FX provider + PE party behind it. Here is the paper trail.
"465di" posts on the Nanocurrency subreddit that they are working on Nano ATMs with the Nano Foundation
Nano's COO, George Coxon, replies enthusiastically to the post, doing nothing to dispell the rumors.
What is 465di? Looking through MyNanoNinja, I come across 465 Digital Investments, a node being run with 51k Nano delegated to it.
465 Digital Investments you say? Diving into that brings us to Duncan Macinnes, founder of 465 Private Equity, chairman of GetNeo (FX hedging advisory), and Chairman of Xenfin Capital (market maker and trader in FX). Also, board member of EQUI, a cryptocurrency-powered investment platform that opens up venture capital to a wider audience and provides high-tech innovators and entrepreneurs a new route to investment. Duncan MacInnes also founded a new company, 465ZFT LTD, just last October.
What does this all mean, DEGENSPEAK? There's a private equity foundepartner, who is also chairman of FX companies, who is investing in Nano, so far secretly, but is now starting to come out about setting up Nano ATMs in the UK. This is seriously huge, Google the names of 465 Private Equity, Duncan Macinnes, Xenfin, GetNeo. Xenfin alone trades in excess of $100bn of spot FX per month. Nano's ultimate usecase has always been FX, because it's the one currency that can transfer worldwide, at 0 fees, instantly.
APESPEAK? Private equity like Nano, set up Nano ATMs, use Nano as FX transfer with $100bn+ sent monthly, price go UP.
# 4. You convinced me. Now what?
First of all: how to buy. Binance, Kraken, Kucoin, Bitvavo (Europe only), AnchorUSD. Probably in that order of preference.
I expect price to start going up after I make this post. We capitalise on that momentum in multiple ways.
  1. A tweetstorm was recently sent at Daddy Elon. Go like it, share it, anything to get it in front of him.
  2. Coinbase doesn't have Nano listed. When you get the chance, make it clear to Coinbase that you are buying/trading Nano and have opened an account at another exchange because Coinbase does not offer Nano.
  3. Make people unable to short Nano or scared to keep their short open. Nano can be shorted on Binance and Kucoin. Buy your Nano on one of those, then TAKE THEM OFF THE EXCHANGE. Natrium is a great wallet. By taking these coins off the exchange, we accomplish two things. First - we increase decentralisation of the Nano network, increasing Nano's value. Second and more importantly - Nano can be shorted using the Nano on these exchanges. Taking them off exchanges directly impacts shortsellers. If enough people do this, shortsellers are unable to re-open their shorts, booming the price.
At how many dollars do I sell?
Dollars? Where we're going, we don't need dollars.
That is all. Try out Nano, buy it, take off exchanges, ask for it to be listed and get it in front of Elon. I'm setting up my 10x long right after this post, for proof or ban purposes.
Positivity, not disagreeing with anything I've said and more examples of solid pumpamentals (also places to leverage it more than 10x) are welcome in the comments ⬇

How to recognize e-transfer scams

I hope this post is allowed. I work for one of the Big 5. I have 3 years of experience in a specialized e-transfer team. I've spoken to thousands of victims and perpetrators of fraud and scams. I'm so sick and sad of seeing my customers become victim to various different scams. If I can help at least one person with this, I'd be so happy. Interac e-transfer is an amazing service when used right and there are ways to protect yourself.
I will tell you about scams I see, the red flags, how to protect yourself and I will score the resolution to the issue on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being "You're screwed" and 10 being "It's like nothing happened."
Types of Scams
I. Job Scams
Usually a victim will get reached out to on a job site (indeed, LinkedIn, or even through their e-mail). The scammers will pose as an employer offering a clean yearly salary with benefits for sitting on your butt and accepting e-transfers and then sending them out to someone else or withdrawing the funds at an atm to be deposited at a bitcoin machine.
The e-transfers they send you will be fraudulently sent from another victims account and you will now be flagged with your bank for accepting fraudulent money. You will be blocked with e-transfers.
Red Flags:
How to protect yourself:
General Resolution Score:
7/10. Assuming you have enough proof for me to show Interac that you were a victim, we should be okay in about an afternoon. If you don't, expect to be blocked from Interac for at LEAST 12 months.
II. Puppy Scams
You're thinking of getting a puppy and you think you've found a reputable seller on Kijiji. They have a website and certificates. They collect a deposit from you for the puppy. Later they ask you for payment for shipping the puppy to you. Then you can't call them, they aren't responding to their messages. You start to feel like there never was a puppy... and you're right. (You can also replace puppy for whatever service or product you're buying)
Red Flags:
How to protect yourself:
General Resolution Score:
2/10. We might get your money back... maybe... might.... again its difficult. And because you sent the money out of your account willingly, its not covered as fraud. So no money and no puppy. So shitty.
III. Shitty Friends lmao
Some of you people just have really bad friends, for real. If your friend asks you to accept an etransfer for them, tell them to go fuck themselves. If they can't accept etransfers, there's a really good reason for that usually. You don't know how many conversations I've had about these that start with "Well, they're in jail now but...". Fuck being nice. Do NOT accept etransfers for anyone else. Consider this the 21st century bad cheque scam.
Red Flags:
How to protect yourself:
General Resolution Score:
2/10. You'll be blocked with Interac for at least 12 months.
IV. Intercepted Transfers
By far the most common scam right now. You send an etransfer with a security question to your landlord, friend, or even your wife. You've done it hundreds of times before and there's never been an issue. You get the notification that its been deposited, but the intended recipient doesn't have it. Wait... what? Your bank says it was deposited to someone who neither you or the recipient know.
Before I get into the red flags, I want to explain what happened. Youre getting lazy with your security questions. And the person you were sending the etransfer to? Either their email is compromised or they have spyware or malware on their devices. The compromise in the devices leaves a nice opportunity for someone to take advantage of your landlords/friends/whomevers email and take their money. Its impossible to have this intercepted from the sending end. This is really unfortunate for the recipient and the sender, but I find the recipients are taking NO responsibility for their compromised emails.
Red Flags:
How to protect yourself:
General Resolution Score: 1.25/10
Again. Its hard to get your money back once its deposited. We will try our level best but the onus is kinda on the recipient here. They need urgent help for their devices and e-mail.
V. Bad Deposit Transfers
A fraudster could deposit a bad cheque and with the funds not put on hold, they can send an e-transfer. Once that cheque bounces, its now called a Bad Deposit Transfer. It gets flagged with the sender AND the recipient if you'd believe it! Interac can't be sure whether you two are in on it together. This is the equivalent of kiting cheques but with etransfers.
How to protect yourself:
General Resolution Score:
5/10. Depends on how quickly the sender can pay back the bad deposit. Once that is done, the bank will consider the whole bank relationship before reinstating with Interac.
VI. Kijiji/Product and Service Scams
Friends, I'm sure this is surprising but Kijiji does not want you using etransfers. You have no idea how much grief it causes them. Accepting an etransfer for a product or service on kijiji or otherwise can be a risky thing. Again, I bring up that Interac e-transfers should be used with people we know and trust.
You're selling an item online, you agree to meet up with someone, they agree to buy and they send you an etransfer. Amazing. A couple days later your bank card is blocked, and your bank is MAD. They said you scammed someone? What the heck? They took the item didn't they? They didn't tell you the product was broken or defective...
Red Flags: - I wish I could tell you what these would be. A lot of the customers I talk to are like they were totally fine and didn't talk to me after I sold it - People are weird and shitty
How to protect yourself:
General Resolution Score: 7/10 these are easy. Give me the proof and we're good.
In the case of people who send the money before getting the item, and go to pick it up with nothing, see puppy scam. Same thing.
My General Tips
And that's about what I've got right now. If anyone has any questions I'm here and happy to answer.
Thanks for reading! Keep safe!

(E: never thought I'd be the girl to do this BUT THANK YALL FOR THE AWARDS AND THE GOLD)
(E: I appreciate your guys' healthy skepticism towards the e-transfer service but I won't be responding to any messages or comments that criticize it too heavily. I didnt invent etransfers so it doesn't bug me but I can really only speak on this service because its what I know. I am wary of being identified by coworkers or my employer and you won't catch me slippin.
The least you can admit about e-transfers is that it fills a need that the banks otherwise weren't meeting and its convenient in that sense.)

How to recognize e-transfer scams in Ontario

Red Flags:
And from u/billion8080:
" To add to PUPPY SCAMS...
How to protect yourself:
General Resolution Score:
2/10. We might get your money back... maybe... might.... again its difficult. And because you sent the money out of your account willingly, its not covered as fraud. So no money and no puppy. So shitty.

The 'Smart' Contract - A short story

The ‘Smart’ Contract
by Jeff P (Telegram jeffpUK)
Miguel Gonzalez stood by the side of the road in a rough part of Caracas in Venezuela, beads of sweat dripping down his forehead on a blisteringly hot summer afternoon. He was only ten years old, but worked every weekend to help pay for food and medicine for his sick mother. He held aloft a bag of watermelon slices, hoping to attract the attention of anyone passing by.

https://preview.redd.it/v63rtcchzye61.png?width=363&format=png&auto=webp&s=024611cdff82db0eb43367ff22024e51f177c812
Nobody seemed interested, even though the idea of himself biting down into one of those cool slices of melon to quench his thirst seemed like the most attractive thing in the world right now.
Miguel would often let his mind wander as he stood by the roadside. He needed the distraction. He would think about his time spent with Miss Diaz; a kind neighbor who would let Miguel use her home computer to write computer programs. For a ten-year-old, he was exceptionally bright. He’d taught himself how to write code in three different programming languages, all from watching instructional videos on YouTube.
He’d often dream about one day writing a computer program that would help kids all around the world, whilst at the same time help to get his mother and himself out of poverty. “One day I’ll make a difference!”, he told himself.
Suddenly the loud growl of a motorbike caught Miguel’s attention. It pulled up sharply beside him and a man took off his motorbike helmet.
“Watermelon Sir?” Miguel whispered.
“No. I don’t want any watermelon,” the man responded rather abruptly. “Are you Miguel?”
“Yes sir.”
“Good. Miss Diaz said I would find you here. I have a problem with my computer, and she told me you are very good with computers, is that right?”
“Yes Sir.”
“Ok, well I have a very important file on my computer. I MUST retrieve it. Right now, I cannot open the folder to access the file. Can you help me?”
Miguel thought about the situation he found himself in for a moment. In front of him stood a complete stranger, yet he seemed to know Miss Diaz, whom Miguel trusted implicitly. Miguel decided that if Miss Diaz had suggested that the man should seek him out, then surely Miss Diaz must think the man is trustworthy.
“How much will you pay me?”
The man began smiling. “She said you were very smart!” He leaned in closer to the boy. “The file on my computer is worth a lot to me. If you can retrieve it, I will pay you one thousand Bolivar.”
This amount of money was huge for a ten-year-old boy. It was the equivalent of one hundred US dollars, and would be enough money to pay for food for him and his mother for many weeks.
“Ok, I will do it Sir,” Miguel uttered softly.
“Good boy! OK well jump on the back and we will go now. My place is just around the corner.”
Miguel was so excited that he dropped the last bag of watermelon slices and immediately jumped onto the back of the motorbike.
The pair whisked through the mean streets of Caracas, and with the wind blowing through his hair, Miguel felt so thrilled, and couldn’t wait to surprise his mother with the money he would make.
A few minutes later, and the pair were at the man’s home. As they walked up to the front door, Miguel asked the man, “Sir, how do you know Miss Diaz?”
“I went to the same school as her son. I used to go round to her house when I was a young boy.”
Miguel felt a little sad when the man mentioned Miss Diaz’s son. She lived alone because her son was murdered in a case of mistaken identity many years ago, and she had never really got over it. Her house was littered with pictures of her son, and she’d often talk about him with Miguel.
The man opened the front door and led Miguel straight to the computer in a large home office overlooking the garden.
The man switched on the computer and quickly manipulated the keyboard and mouse to point Miguel to a folder on the computer desktop.
“Ok, so this is the folder. I need the file inside.”
Miguel looked at the folder. He could immediately see that it was encrypted with a password, however his advanced knowledge of the computer’s operating system made him feel immediately confident that he’d be able to open it.
“Ok, I think I can do this” Miguel said with conviction.
“Perfect!”, replied the man. “Ok, well I need to go back out now as I have many things I need to do today. I will be back later.”
With that, the man rushed back out the door and left Miguel alone with the computer.
Miguel began working on the folder. He had to try several techniques to make progress, but eventually, after almost two hours of concentration, he finally managed to open the folder.
Inside the folder was a solitary text file. It was simply labelled as “words.txt”
This somewhat intrigued Miguel. What words would be so important to Luis, that he was willing to pay this much money? There was absolutely no sign of Luis, so curiosity got the better of Miguel, and he decided to open it.
Inside the file was a long row of words. He recognized all of them except for the very first word on the first row. It said “Ethereum”. He’d never come across this word before. The remaining words were all recognizable, but utterly random.
“elephant,”
“Insect,”
“Castle,”
“Dolphin,”
Miguel was completely puzzled. “What is ‘Ethereum’ and what are all these words? Why are they so valuable to him?” he thought to himself.
Miguel glanced at the clock in the display’s corner. It was almost seven o’clock. At that moment he realized that he hadn’t even told his mother what he was doing before he set off to the man’s house! He knew that she’d be sick with worry and was already very fragile with her illness.
He decided it was now time to go home, but the man still hadn’t returned. He noticed a stack of paper and a pen on an adjoining desk, so decided that he would leave a note for the man and then head home.
Sir, I have opened your folder. Please could you drop off my payment to Miss Diaz and I will collect it from her tomorrow? Thankyou.
Miguel placed the note directly on top of the keyboard and headed home.
The next day, Miguel was so excited! Not only would he be collecting his reward for all of his hard work, but he’d get to spend some time with Miss Diaz and write some more code on her computer. There was an obvious spring in his step, as he marched confidently to Miss Diaz’s front door. Miguel knocked on the door, and as always, Miss Diaz greeted Miguel with a warm smile.
“Miguel! Come in!”
Miguel walked in and Miss Diaz immediately offered him a glass of lemonade and a sandwich.
“How is mama today?” the woman asked.
“She is okay, Miss Diaz. A little tired today, but resting.”
Miss Diaz sighed. “I pray for her. I hope the medicine will help her grow strong again. Your mother is a wonderful woman.”
After talking for a short while, Miguel finished his sandwich, and offered to clean any plates and cups that might need cleaning in the kitchen.
“No! No, Miguel, you don’t have to do that. You are my guest! Besides, I want you to show me this new computer program you are working on!”
The pair headed over to the computer, and Miguel spent some time talking Miss Diaz through the computer game program he’d been working on. It was still in its early stages, but Miss Diaz repeatedly made comments on how impressed she was with its potential.
Two hours passed by in what seemed like an instant, and it was time to head off. Miguel didn’t want to mention the money owed to him for the work he’d done, but as it was now time to leave, so he thought he’d better say something to her.
“Miss Diaz… did a man drop off any money for me today?”
Miss Diaz looked puzzled. “Money? No, Miguel. What money? What man are you talking about?”
At that moment, Miguel realized that he didn’t even know the man’s name.
“Err…. I am not sure what his name is. He said he knew you. He said he knew your son?”
Miss Diaz scratched her head. Her memory was not as sharp as it once was. Fortunately for Miguel, after a few moments of confusion, a big smile quickly returned to Miss Diaz’s face.
“Ahh, that must be Luis! Yes! Yes, it’s coming back to me now! I remember a last week when I was out shopping, I bumped into him. It had been so many years since I have seen him! I remember him as just a little boy! Yes, I remember it now. He looked troubled, so I asked him if he was ok. He said he had some issues with his computer and asked if I knew anyone who was good with computers. You were of course were the first person who popped into my head!”
She stood staring up at the corner of the room, almost trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle back together in her mind. “Yes, he asked me how he could contact you, and that he would be happy to pay if you could help him, so I told him where you worked, and he said he would stop by and speak to you! Yes, I remember now!”
Miguel breathed a sigh of relief. Miss Diaz knew the man. However, it was pretty clear that the man hadn’t stopped by the house that day to leave any money for him.
“Did he say he would come here to pay you today, Miguel?” the woman asked.
“Well, no. I went to his house and did the work, and he said he needed to go out. When I had finished, he hadn’t returned, so I left him a note and asked him to drop off the money to you today and I would collect it,”
Miss Diaz sighed. “Sorry Miguel, I have not seen him. Maybe he is very busy today? Don’t worry, I’m sure he will stop by later and drop off your money. You can collect it next week when you come.”
Miguel suddenly felt a little deflated. He was desperately hoping to return home to surprise his mother with the money, but there was nothing he could do other than wait. Miguel said thankyou to Miss Diaz for her kindness, and the lovely sandwich she’d made him, and headed home.
A week went by and it was time for Miguel to return to Miss Diaz’s home for the weekly catch-up and computer session. When she opened the door to greet Miguel, it wasn’t with the same huge warm smile that she normally offered.
“Hmm…. I’m sorry, Miguel, but Luis still hasn’t been to the house. I haven’t seen him. Maybe something important has come up this week, and he hasn’t had the chance to come here?”
Miguel sighed. He felt completely gutted, however he was also mature way beyond his years, and knew this wasn’t Miss Diaz’s fault, so forced himself to smile to put the woman at ease.
“That’s ok, Miss Diaz. Yes, he’s probably just very busy. Maybe next week”
With that, he entered the house, had a glass of orange juice and a slice of home-made cake, and spent the day talking with the kind woman, pushing all thoughts about the money to the back of his mind.
Another week passed by. No sign of the money. Then another week. Another still. After a while, the money was no longer mentioned, and the days just returned to the normal warm, friendly encounters that both treasured so dearly.
A few more weeks passed by and the thought of the money owed had completely disappeared from the forefront of Miguel’s memory.
One sunny day a few months later, back on the side of the road, Miguel held his last bag of watermelon slices, and was hoping a passer-by would offer to buy it so he could head home. When suddenly, Miguel heard the growl of a motorbike heading up the street. He quickly realized it was Luis!
Miguel was so excited that he dropped the bag of watermelons slices and stood there waiting patiently for Luis to pull up beside him. He didn’t. Instead, the motorbike whizzed straight by Miguel at break-neck speed and within moments it had disappeared out of sight.
This positively enraged him! He decided he would take matters into his own hands, so began running down the road in the same direction the motorbike had headed.
Before he knew it, he found himself at the front of the man’s house, however there was no sign of the motorbike.
He marched up to the front of the door and began banging his fist onto the wooden frame as hard as he could!
“Hey! Hey! Open up!”
After a few moments the door swung open, but it wasn’t Luis. It was an older man, who looked extremely angry.
“What are you doing?!!” the man shouted. “Why are you banging on my door like that?!”
Miguel was caught slightly off guard. He’d somewhat prepared himself for confrontation, but not with someone else. He quickly regained his composure.
“I am sorry, Sir. Please accept my apologies. I am looking for Luis. Is he your son?”
The man looked confused. “Luis. No. Luis is NOT my son. He is the EX-boyfriend of my daughter. Good riddance to him. He is NOT welcome at my house any longer! Now please go away I am very busy!”
With that, the man rudely slammed the door in Miguel’s face and disappeared back into the house.
Miguel stood motionless. The encounter had left him shaken, and he fought hard to hold back tears as he walked home, feeling completely defeated.
“This will NEVER happen again!” he kept telling himself. He would never make the same mistake twice.
A few months passed by, and Miguel had forgotten about the money. Miguel headed to Miss Diaz’s house for his weekly catch-up and was really looking forward to telling her all about what he’d learned at school that week.
As Miguel approached the lady’s house, his face dropped. There was an ambulance outside the house and a paramedic standing near the front door. At that moment, two other paramedics came out of the house with a stretcher. It was Miss Diaz.
“Miss Diaz! Are you ok?” Miguel shouted as he ran towards the stretcher. “What’s happened?”
The lady gathered a smile for the boy, even though she was clearly uncomfortable.
“Miguel…. I am so sorry, Miguel. We won’t be able to spend time together today. I need to go to the hospital.”
Miguel began crying. “Miss Diaz, what has happened?! Please tell me!”
She tried to reassure him. “It’s ok Miguel. I will be ok. I will see you next week ok. Please…. go home and try not to worry. It will be ok.”
With that, the paramedics moved the woman down the steps and carefully placed her into the back of the ambulance. A few moments later, the ambulance, the paramedics, and Miss Diaz were gone.
Miguel couldn’t stop crying. He was only ten years old, but he was not stupid. He knew that it must’ve been something very serious for them to have taken Miss Diaz away like that. With a heavy heart, he headed back home.
Later that day, the phone rang, and Miguel’s mother answered it. Whatever was being said to her made her cry. She thanked the person on the phone before walking over to Miguel and holding him. Miss Diaz had passed away in hospital.
This was not the first time Miguel had experienced loss. His own father, whom Miguel looked up to as a superhero, had died of cancer two years ago. In the final stage before his death, Miguel’s father had asked his son to stay strong and look after his mother, as he would soon become the man of the house. Miguel promised his father he would stay strong, and he was determined to keep his promise, but at the same time, he was utterly heartbroken to lose the friend who had always showered him with unconditional kindness and love.
The funeral was a week later, and Miguel and his mother attended. It was clear to see that many people loved Miss Diaz. Miguel missed her desperately.
A few days after the funeral, Miguel was at home reading a book in his room, when he heard a knock on the door. He heard his mum shout from the bathroom,
“Miguel, can you answer the door to see who that is, please?”
He walked over to the door and opened it, and there stood a lady who he didn’t know, but who looked strangely familiar to him.
“Hello. Can I help you?”, he asked the woman.
The woman smiled. “You must be Miguel. It is nice to meet you, Miguel. My name is Angelina. My sister always spoke very fondly of you.”
Miguel was overcome with emotion. “You are Miss Diaz’s sister?”
“Yes. It is very nice to meet you.”
Without even thinking, Miguel held out both arms and hugged the woman.
A few moments later, Miguel’s mother came to the front door. She recognised the woman. “Angelina, it is good to see you again. I am so sorry for your loss”.
The woman wiped back her tears. “Thank you… I will dearly miss her, but I pray she is now with her son”. After gathering herself for a few moments, she continued.
“Anyway, the reason I am here is to give you something, Miguel.”
Miguel looked puzzled. “Give me something?”
“Yes…. here it is.” with that she pointed to a large cardboard box that had stood just out of sight.
“What is it?”
“Why don’t you have a look” the lady replied warmly.
Miguel took a few steps forward to peer into the box. It was Miss Diaz’s computer.
“She wanted you to have this, Miguel. Just before she passed away in the hospital, I spoke with her, and she asked me to make a promise to her I would bring this to you.”
Once again, Miguel began crying. “Thankyou” he said.
From that day onwards, Miguel spent all of his spare time on that computer. He would still need to work at the weekend selling slices of watermelon to pay for food and medicine, but any spare time he had, the boy would spend perfecting the code to his computer programs. One day, whilst surfing the internet, he came across an article about cryptocurrency, and he recognized a word that he’d seen just once before…. Ethereum.
“Ethereum? Where have I seen that before?” He googled the word Ethereum, and before he knew it, he was reading articles and watching videos all about the Ethereum cryptocurrency, the concept of blockchains, the usage of decentralized applications and smart contracts.
The whole thing completely fascinated him. He practiced writing basic decentralized app games, and smart contracts, which quickly developed into advanced applications, and in less than six months, he’d become somewhat of an expert in the field.
Almost two years passed by and Miguel was still on the same road selling his watermelon slices, day dreaming about blockchain programming ideas that he wanted to work on when he finished work, when suddenly out of nowhere came the growl of a motorbike engine. It was Luis!
Miguel half-expected the motorbike to whizz past him, just as it had done the last time, but this time it didn’t. The bike pulled over to the side of the road where Miguel stood, and Luis pulled off his helmet.
“Miguel!” Luis smiled, “How are you?”
Miguel was utterly confused. He wasn’t expecting this type of greeting. He was completely lost for words.
Luis walked over to Miguel. “Miguel, look, I’m sorry about what happened before. I had some issues, and things were very complicated. I won’t go into any details, but let’s just say I needed to go away for a little while.”
Miguel’s blood boiled. “You promised me one thousand Bolivar!”
Luis sighed. “Yes, I know. I’m sorry. Look, I will give you that money. You have my word. In fact, I will give you double the money I promised you ok? I just need you to open another folder for me. I will give you two thousand Bolivar to finish the job.”
Miguel now had zero respect for the man. “No, thanks.”
Louis looked agitated. “Look Miguel, I really need you to open that last folder for me ok. Look, listen, I will give you THREE thousand Bolivar to open it. How’s that sound?”
“No. Keep your money. I won’t do it.”
Luis grew angry. “Listen to me…. I NEED the information in that folder. Do you understand me?”
Miguel felt very intimated by the man stood over him, and he also knew that if the situation turned physical, there’s was a very strong chance he would be seriously hurt, so was keen to calm Luis down.
“Ok, for three thousand Bolivar, I will do it.”
Luis’ frown immediately switched back to a smile. “Good boy! Thankyou!” Ok, so listen. The folder is on a laptop. Can you open it?”
“Yes, I think so. I just some time. I cannot do it here as I will need an internet connection.”
Luis stood and thought for a moment before offering his suggestion.
“Ok, well here is what we do. Tomorrow morning you head into the city. There is an internet café there in the capital district. They will have an internet connection. I will meet you there at nine ok?”
Miguel nodded. Luis smiled, put his helmet back on, mounted his motorbike, and within moments he was gone.
That night Miguel lay awake thinking about the encounter. It was strange how Louis was practically offering any amount of money to open that final folder.
Even though Miguel didn’t want to go to the internet café, he also knew that if he didn’t go, Luis would be furious, and even though Luis didn’t know where Miguel lived, he knew where he worked, so it would be easy enough for Luis to find him. He decided that he didn’t really have a choice but to go.
It was 9am the next morning when Miguel walked into the internet café, not really knowing what to expect. He spotted Luis sitting in the corner, looking anxious, with a laptop opened up in front of him.
Luis spotted him and called him over.
“Ok, so here is the laptop, and here is the folder. I MUST have it opened today, or I am a dead man!”
Miguel looked over the folder on the screen, but also noticed a few other icons that were now very familiar to him. He could also see in the corner of his eyes that Luis was on edge.
“so, can you do it then?” Luis asked.
“Yes…. but what about my money?”
Luis grew irritated by the question. “Listen, I don’t have that kind of money on me, but I will get it to you, I PROMISE you. Christ, I will give you TWENTY thousand Bolivar if you hurry and open that file. I need the words inside it urgently!”
“The words?”
“Yes, I need the words. These words are to recover my…” Luis paused for a few moments before continuing, “Look, all you need to know, is that gaining access to this folder will help me access LOT of money!”
“Is this for Ethereum?”
Luis half smiled. “You know what, it doesn’t surprise me that you know what Ethereum is! You are a smart kid.” The smile quickly switched back to a very serious face. “Listen, I need to pay some men. Some very DANGEOUS men, a lot of money. I have the money. In fact, I have more than enough money, if I can get access to the file in that folder. Look, I need to fly out to Bogota tonight, and if I miss that flight and don’t have access to my money, I am a dead man. I just need YOU to hurry! I’m running out of time!”
Miguel paused for a moment to take stock of the situation.
“Listen, I will open this folder and get you access to the file, but I want you to pay me my fee in Ethereum, not in Bolivar”
Luis was shocked. “You want me to pay you in Eth? In crypto? “
“Yes.”
“You have an Ethereum wallet?”
“Yes.”
“Ok fine, just hurry and open the damn folder and get me those words and then I will transfer the funds to you.”
Miguel took a deep breath before responding. “How do I know you will pay me this time?”
“Miguel, look, I am a man of my word. Let us shake hands on this ok. Shake my hand and we will agree that I will pay you.”
Luis reached out his hand, and the pair shook.
“and you’ll pay me straight after I do this?”
“Listen Miguel, I’m not going to run off with your damn money! Just hurry up and do this, you are really starting to irritate me…if you don’t open that damned folder, you will not see the sun rise tomorrow, do you UNDERSTAND ME?!”
“Yes, I understand you…. but it sounds like neither will you, so we both lose.”
“Listen kid, this is NOT a game! I am not playing games here! Open the…”
At that moment, a very tall, heavy-built man wearing a café apron interrupted the heated engagement.
“Excuse me sir, you are clearly very stressed out. I need to ask you to leave my café,”
Luis could see that he was now drawing attention from other customers. He immediately lowered his voice. “Look, I’m sorry. I’ve had a bad morning and I haven’t slept. I’m sorry, I will lower my voice.”
The man was scanning both Luis and Miguel, trying to figure out what was going on at the table. He turned to Miguel.
“Do you know this man?” he asked the boy.
Before Miguel could respond, Luis answered the question for him. “He’s my kid brother. Look, we had an argument, but it’s fine now ok?”
The man didn’t respond to Luis, but turned directly to face the young boy. “Is that true? Is he your brother?”
There was a long pause. “Yes sir, he’s my brother. He is angry at me because I haven’t finished my schoolwork on the laptop.”
The tall man accepted Miguel’s response, but he was still not happy with Miguel, and clearly wasn’t accepting the apology. “Ok, you can stay,” he said to the boy, “But you sir, I need to ask you to leave my café.”
Luis was now playing along with Miguel’s charade. “Listen, I need to make sure he does his all of his schoolwork correctly. I don’t trust him to do the work unsupervised.”
“Ok, so you can both leave then! You are disturbing my customers. Please go somewhere else.”
Miguel quickly responded. “Please sir, I am sorry, we are poor and we don’t have any internet connection at home, and I need to do research for my school project on the internet. I cannot do this at home.”
“Ok. Well, I’m sorry,” then man said, before turning to face Luis, “but I need to ask YOU to leave now.”
Luis was growing irritated once more by the man’s insistence. “Listen, I will buy some more coffee and some of you cake ok. We will be quiet now and won’t disturb anyone.”
“Please do not let me have to ask you this again. If you do not leave immediately, I will call the police!”
Luis hadn’t planned for this type of interaction, but equally he had no intention of leaving. “Ok, fine, call the police. We have done nothing wrong!”
The man in the apron swore under his breath and clenched his fists, before walking back over to the counter. Both Miguel and Luis watched as he walked back round the café counter and lifted the telephone to call the police.
Luis was now panicking. He knew he most likely only had a few minutes before the police arrived, and he wasn’t in any mood to explain why the situation in the café was so heated. He turned to Miguel.
“Ok, listen to me, Miguel. Listen very carefully. I need to leave in a minute. Hurry!”
Miguel opened up a command window and started rapidly typing up multiple lines of text. As he was doing this, Luis glanced over at the man working in the café. He was looking out of the window, expecting to see the Police pull up at any moment.
At glanced back to the laptop display, which was already filled with at least a dozen lines of code.
“Ok, so how much longer!”, Luis asked impatiently.
“I need a little more time.”
At that moment, sounds of police sirens could be heard outside the café.
Luis grew angry, “Look, I need to leave before they drag me out of here! Have you finished yet?”
“Not yet, I need maybe ten more minutes” Miguel continued typing rapidly. Luis peered out of the window and could now see a police office getting out of his car on the other side of the street. He realized he had no time left.
“Right Miguel, listen to me VERY carefully. I have to go… you stay here and finish, and I will wait for you across the street. HURRY!”
With that, he got up and headed over to the café exit and walked out. Thirty seconds later, a police officer entered the café and walked over to the tall man behind the counter. Miguel glanced up from his laptop to see what was happening. He was expecting the police officer to head over to him, but instead the police officer finished his conversation, then appearing satisfied with the current situation, turned round and headed back out of the café.
Moments later Miguel had finally managed to open the folder.
Inside the folder was a text file, and inside the text file were 12 unique words. Miguel knew those words would help Luis recover a crypto wallet.
Miguel decided he would leave a text file note in the same folder so that Luis could read it. He spent a few more minutes typing more information on the keyboard, before finally closing the laptop lid. He calmly walked over to the café exit and left the building, and could see Luis sat on a bench on the other side of the street. He crossed the road and Luis stood up to meet him.
“So, Miguel, did you open the folder?”
“Yes, I opened it.”
“and the words…. did you get the words?”
“Yes, I got them.”
“Good boy!” Luis gestured to Miguel to sit down on the park bench beside him. He snatched the laptop out of the boy’s hands and opened up the screen and navigated to the folder. “Let me just quickly check you’ve done it.” He opened up the folder, and could see the 12 words in the text file. “Perfect!”
Miguel pointed to the second brand new file that he’d created in the same folder. “Luis, this file here contains my Ethereum wallet address, read that and….”
At that moment, Luis snapped the laptop lid closed and stood up. “Right Miguel, I really need to get moving, I’ve got so much to do today. Thanks for your help.”
“Wait!” Miguel said, “Remember you promised to pay me two Eth! We shook hands, and you told me you were a man of your word?”
“Oh yeah….no problem, look, I’m in a hurry so I’ll do it shortly…. Don’t worry, you will get your eth! Anyway, I need to go…. Maybe I’ll see you around Miguel?”
“Remember….you agreed to pay within 24 hours!”
Luis smiled. “Sure kid, twenty-four hours as agreed”, and with that he vanished without a trace.
Miguel turned in the opposite direction and began his journey home.
The next morning, Miguel was sat in front of his computer staring at his Ethereum wallet. It was still empty, and there were only a few minutes to go before the 24-hour period had passed.
He still couldn’t help feeling that Luis would break his promise, and as the clock ticked past 9:30am, his suspicions were confirmed when he looked to see that the wallet was still empty. Luis hadn’t paid him. This was now the second time Luis had broken his promise.
This time, however, Miguel didn’t feel deflated at all. In fact, he felt thrilled. He glanced over once more to his Ethereum wallet, and suddenly he saw the account balance had changed. Only it wasn’t showing two Eth…..It was showing two THOUSAND Eth!
Miguel smiled, got up from his computer and headed into the kitchen to make his mother some breakfast. As the two sat at the table, Miguel’s mother could see him smiling.
“You seem happy this morning?”
“Yes, mama. Today is a good day!”
His mother smiled. “Really? Well, that’s great. I like to hear that. Why is today, of all days, a good day?”
“Because I can finally look after you mama…. properly. We can leave this place and start somewhere fresh!”
“Miguel? What do you mean?”
“I will explain everything to you later. But this morning we should start packing. I don’t think we can live here any longer. Let’s go to your sisters.”
“Isabella’s? In Costa Rica? Miguel, what are you talking about? We don’t have any money to do this?”
“mama we do now… I did some work yesterday for a very generous man who agreed to pay me a large amount of money for some very important work on his laptop”
“really? Enough money to leave Venezuela?”
“Yes.”
“Miguel, I don’t understand? You are confusing me.”
“Mama, please don’t worry; the money has already been transferred to me. It’s all ok. Everything was agreed, and we shook hands. Please, mama…. just trust me.”
Miguel’s mother didn’t quite know what to make of what her young son was telling her, but she loved him more than anything in the world and trusted him.
“Ok….well…. I guess I will go and pack our things then?”
“Yes mama. Please pack all your clothes. We won’t ever need to come back here again.”
With that, Miguel and his mother loaded up the car, and began heading west to Cost Rica to start their new lives.
At roughly the same time, a plane touched down in Bogota airport in Colombia. Luis got off the plane and headed to the airport lounge. He noticed that the lounge had a brand-new Bitcoin ATM, so he decided that he’d make a small withdrawal before heading off. He opened a Decentralized Exchange App on his phone that was linked to his Ethereum wallet, and proceeded to try to convert some of his Eth into Bitcoin, ready for him to make a withdrawal from the ATM. It wasn’t working. There must be some kind of mistake? He had checked his Ethereum wallet that same morning back in Venezuela before he’d boarded the plane and all the funds were there?
He sat down and pulled out his laptop. He opened Metamask to check the Ethereum account. It was empty!
He then noticed the second text file in the folder. He double-clicked on the icon and the file opened and read it.

Hi Luis,
As per our agreement, please send me two eth in the next 24 hours. We shook hands, and you gave me your word, and I really hope that you keep your promise to pay me. I did everything you asked of me. My wallet address is 0xC10121022ABCDE123123AB
However, please understand that because you didn’t pay me the first time we met, there would still be a part of me that doesn’t trust you. I sincerely hope I am wrong about this. If you do not pay me the two eth that you promised me in the next 24 hours, then the smart contract I have setup will automatically transfer ALL Ethereum within the contract to my Ethereum wallet.
In order to do this, I adjusted the pass phrase in the text file. This pass phrase instead now points to the smart contract I wrote, and using the original pass phrase in the folder, I recovered the wallet, and transferred ALL eth into this new smart contract. You have full access to this new smart contract right now with those words in the file. You can transfer any amount you like, to any account that you like, but if you do not transfer two eth from this smart contract to my wallet within 24 hours, the smart contract will automatically transfer all eth to my wallet.
I really hope it doesn’t come to that.
Thanks
Miguel

I think this is stupid and immoral since it leads to a lot of people investing money in to things that don’t work out. Above you can see that in the last 90 days, Bitcoin has become 24% more difficult to mine. Below you can see the recent changes. On March 24th alone, it became 5.11% harder to mine. On Feb 10th, another 4.25% harder to mine. You will see in this guide how to withdraw money from Bitcoin ATM. A Bitcoin ATM is basically an outlet or kiosk where people use their debit cards or cash to purchase; in some cases the functionality is dual which includes both sale and purchase of bitcoin. If you incur an unexpected need for more money, withdraw more cryptocoins as cash from a Bitcoin ATM or transfer cryptocoins to a debit card or your bank account. Transferring cryptocurrencies to a bank account through Coinbase or CoinJar can take between one and five days, however, so it's best not to rely on this method to get cash in emergencies. Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to withdraw your cash from a Coin Cloud Bitcoin ATM. How to Cash Out your Bitcoin. Open your CoinCloud Wallet app; Under “Nearest Coin Cloud ATMs,” find your favorite one; Choose “Quick Cash” under your closest machine; Enter the unique identifier code texted to your phone; You will be shown the Sell Limit for that machine; proceed by choosing “Start” You can convert up to $50,000 per day and spend the money using your Wirex card; alternatively, you can withdraw from an ATM. If you prefer to cash out directly to a bank account, Wirex Money can be withdrawn from a bitcoin ATM. Bitcoin ATMs are used to exchange money for bitcoin or to exchange bitcoin for money. It is easy to withdraw money from a bitcoin ATM once you find one that buys bitcoin. Now that you know that you can withdraw money from a bitcoin ATM, you need to know how to find one. Withdrawing cash from a bitcoin ATM is not as straightforward as going to an ATM with your debit card. Before that, however, a short introduction of a Bitcoin ATM is important. A Bitcoin ATM is much like the traditional ATM that dispenses fiat currencies where you use your debit card to withdraw USD, EUR, INR etc. However, unlike the traditional fiat ATMs, some Bitcoin ATMs actually allow you to withdraw bitcoins from it. How Does a Bitcoin ATM Work? It works almost like the ATMs you use today. There are a few differences: Instead of inserting your debit card and getting cash, you insert cash and get bitcoins sent to your Bitcoin wallet (if you are buying bitcoins). Some Bitcoin ATMs also let you sell bitcoins, so you would send bitcoins to the machine and the Bitcoin ATMs would spit out cash. Why Use a Bitcoin ATM? Now, before you can cash out your bitcoins using Robocoin ATM you need first to have bitcoins in your wallet. So if you have them in your own wallet, you need first to transfer it to Robocoin. Here are the steps: Tap “Receive” option on the screen (when you are logged in to your wallet) You will be provided with QR code for depositing bitcoins 6. In this example, I will show you how to cash out Bitcoin using PayPal. As you can see, the buyer has a 100% feedback rating, and has completed more than 1000 trades! This is a sign of a serious, legitimate buyer. 7. Confirm the amount of Bitcoin you want to sell and enter your PayPal email address. Then click on Send Trade Request. 8.
