But Bond already suspected Mathis was the traitor and Vesper was kidnapped forcefully, so the line just seemed a bit unnecessary or our of place since it was pretty clear we already suspected that setup. Casino Royale: Why did Vesper kill herself? Her and James seemed like they were going to be happy... He was trying to get her out and then she locked the elevator thing, why? als her bf was killed and she would of been arrested in the end for treason which wouold get her in trouble. also i think that she was a plague on bond however her Vesper's initial mission from the organization (later found out to be Quantum) was not to steal the money, but to sabotage Bond. The Organization 'kidnapped' Vesper's boyfriend in order to blackmail her in exchange for his life, for which her mission was to ruin Bond's chances of winning. This is because Quantum want Le Chiffre to win. They were the ones who risked their reputation with the African warlord at the beginning of the movie to recommend Le Chiffre to be their investor. She killed her self because she felt guilty of betraying Bond; because she fell in Love with Bond. And remember why Vesper did all this. Because they had her fiancé(or boyfriend, i don't remember...
